A teenage boy taken to hospital after industrial fridge falls on his legs

An investigation has been launched after a large fridge fell on a Townsville teen in a workplace incident on Friday.

An investigation has been launched after a large fridge fell on a Townsville teen in a workplace incident on Friday.

Workplace Health and Safety Queensland confirmed that it had been notified after the teen suffered significant injuries to his legs when a 150-200kg fridge fell on his legs at the business in Castlemaine St in Kirwan just before 8am this morning.

“A WHSQ inspector is on site to investigate,” a spokesperson said.

Queensland Ambulance Service said the young man was treated for significant leg injuries at the workplace.

He was transported to Townsville University Hospital in a stable condition.

The fridge is understood to have weighed between 150kg and 200kg.
