A 25-year-old man has been denied bail after a woman woke at 4am on Sunday to find she had been burgled and her car stolen.
Trent Joseph Barnes faced the Townsville Magistrates Court in custody on Monday charged with 12 offences after he was arrested for the alleged incident.
He made an application for bail which was denied.
The court heard police deployed a tyre deflation device at 4.15am in Idalia and took Barnes, who was allegedly in the company of two juveniles, into custody.
Magistrate Viviana Keegan said Barnes was “caught red-handed” and had a “terrible criminal history” and denied his application for bail.
“I don’t understand why there is even a bail application being made,” Ms Keegan said.
Barnes’ lawyer Troydon Maltby said his client resided in Ayr and had “fallen into slight drug misuse issues”.
The charges were adjourned to July 7 for mention and Barnes was remanded in custody.
