A teenage boy who was released from detention after being sentenced for stealing cars and breaking into properties was allegedly back on the streets the night he got out.
The 14-year-old who cannot be identified under state law was taken into custody on Sunday after he allegedly obstructed police when they attempted to arrest him.
It is understood the boy was released from the Cleveland Youth Detention Centre on Tuesday, May 25 and was subject to a curfew order.
It is alleged the boy breached the curfew order before he was reported missing by the Department of Child Safety at 1.30am on May 26.
A warrant was issued for his arrest and he was taken into custody on Sunday.
No application for bail was made by the boy’s legal representative on Monday when his matters were mentioned in court.
The court heard the boy faces three allegations including two counts of breaching a supervised release order associated with detention orders made in March and one count of obstructing police.
It was heard one order related to eight months detention for unlawful use of a motor vehicle and entering a dwelling.
Another order related to six months detention for attempting to steal from a person.
Magistrate Steven Mosch adjourned the matters to Wednesday.
