Townsville man charged after allegedly robbing, injuring Vincent man in 70s
Police have arrested a man suspected of committing a violent robbery in Vincent as they appeal to residents for information.
A young man has been charged after allegedly committing a violent robbery in Townsville which left a man in his 70s injured and taken to hospital.
Police reported the 19-year-old Aitkenvale man was arrested in relation to an alleged robbery on November 28.
A spokesman said around 2am the man allegedly gained entry to an Anne Street residence in Vincent and stole multiple items including the keys to a grey Toyota Granvia van.
Police will also allege the accused assaulted a 77-year-old man and fled in the Toyota leaving him with minor injuries.
The vehicle was found outside a Garbutt home and the 19-year-old was taken into custody.
He has been charged with two counts of entering a dwelling with intent and one count each of robbery, unlawful use of motor vehicle, driving without due care and attention, and driving without a licence.
His bail was refused and expected to appear in Townsville court Saturday.
