Toowoomba’s Officeworks new site opening date revealed, will be joined by KFC, Starbucks

Toowoomba’s new home of Officeworks is opening soon, and the national tenant will be joined by a few more recognisable brands. Details here:

The new home of Toowoomba’s Officeworks will be open in just 16 days, as its developers prepare to launch the massive $32m commercial precinct to the public.

The national stationery and office supplies giant will be relocating to James and West Streets in Harristown on April 16, with the store to be the second-largest Officeworks in Queensland.

Signage has already been erected at the new location, which will also include new KFC and Starbucks eateries as well as the first Queensland store of national chain Provisional Home Living.

The official opening will be the culmination of nearly four years of work for developers Rob Weymouth and Daniel Cooper, who conceived the project during the depths of the Covid-19 pandemic.

“It’s been a long time, and took a lot of energy by a lot of people and it’s coming together really well so Daniel and I are really happy,” Mr Weymouth said.

“It was the middle of 2021, that’s when we first started talking to the original landowners — prior to that, we had an idea but that’s when we determined a site.

“I went through there (the other day) and had a look, and it just makes you feel proud — it just feels fantastic after all those years.”

NRG Services undertook the build for all structures, with the Officeworks already essentially complete.

Mr Weymouth said the team decided to launch all tenancies at the same time to minimise disruptions.

“To open them in stages would have been a nightmare, so what we’re doing is finishing the whole thing at once and everything opens on the site on the same day,” he said.

The old Officeworks site will close to the public the same week to allow customers to transfer over to the new location.

It is unclear what will replace it as a tenant.
