Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport Running Festival 2026 nominations open
Four races, one day and zero excuses: Toowoomba’s biggest running festival is back for a fourth year with a streamlined format which organisers hope will draw a massive crowd while minimising disruptions.
With the starter’s gun primed and almost ready to fire – nominations are now open for the 2026 Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport Running Festival.
Taking place on Sunday, May 3 the fourth running of the event marks an exciting new chapter for the festival.
In a refreshing change of pace for runners of all abilities, the Toowoomba Wellcamp Airport Marathon is a now a one-day festival with four distinct events – the ASICS Half Marathon, Visit Toowoomba Region 10km, Grand Central 5km and the Toowoomba Mile.
With family members lining up in nearly every event last year, the Magareys are looking forward to ‘going again’ in 2026.
“Having a local event like this that draws so many people to the city is exciting,” Melanie Magarey said.
“I love the fact that with any running event you see so many people set a goal for themselves and work so hard leading up to the event.
“Then you see them cross the finish line so full of pride and excitement – it’s exciting being able to see that and be part of it.
“I feel like running really is for anyone, parkrun has shown that. Go to any parkrun and you will see people enjoying themselves whether they are walking or running.”
The condensed festival schedule is the result of discussions and feedback from key stakeholders and the Toowoomba community.
While course routes will still take in some of the Garden City’s historic landmarks, picturesque streetscapes and parks – the restructured schedule will result in less road closures and traffic interruptions.
