Three simple words motivated the Toowoomba Mountaineers to throw their support behind a city charity in need.
Acting on their Positive Choices program motto ‘Thought, Action, Outcome’ the Mountaineers have donated $3500 to Toowoomba charity Base Services.
“It was a very easy decision to make,” Mountaineers chairman John Gouldson said.
“They (the Armstrongs) are big supporters of Base Services and we wanted to follow suit.
“It was an easy decision to support them because they do fantastic things.
“Nat and Tiff (Spary) are very passionate about those in need which includes some of Toowoomba’s most vulnerable.”
Mountaineers men’s coach Sean Connelly tipped things off donating $2500 and Toowoomba Basketball added a further $1000.
Now the Mountaineers are hopeful Toowoomba residents get behind Base Services.
“We’ve started up a GoFundMe which will be open until the end of the month,” Mr Gouldson said.
“We’d love to see Toowoomba residents donate what they can to support such a worthy cause.”
The Mountaineers Positive Choices program was started in 2013 in memory of players Stacey Ricther and Stephanie Mylonas who were tragically killed in a head-on car crash in 2012.
