Thieves allegedly stealing lighting cable from Toowoomba facilities

Thieves are allegedly targeting Toowoomba sports grounds and clubs with their actions impacting the ability to use those grounds. Here’s what we know about the thefts.

Toowoomba sports club and residents are being asked to keep ‘a vigilant eye’ as thieves target sporting infrastructure around the region.

It is understood by this masthead that thieves have stolen or attempted to steal lighting cable from multiple sporting facilities.

With the thefts negatively impacting clubs Toowoomba Regional Council is asking the community to report any suspicious activity or vehicles observed at any council at council facilities.

In information released to club and sporting organisations it is believed the perpetrators are ‘well prepared’ and residents are urged to prioritise their personal safety and to not confront any alleged offenders.

Suspicious activity can be reported to the TRC Customer Service team by calling 131 872, however if an obvious is being committed contact Queensland Police Service first.

The Chronicle has approached Toowoomba Regional Council directly for comment on this issue but is yet to receive a response.
