Thousands passed through the gates of the Allora Showgrounds on the weekend for an inaugural festival celebrating working horses across the Downs.
Darling Downs Heavy Horse Association president Clint Kenny said the organisers “couldn’t be happier”.
“Everything has gone beautifully,” he said.
“The crowd has been terrific, competitors are happy, stall holders are happy.
“We couldn’t ask it to be any better.
“A man from Cambooya said ‘If you can’t have fun here, there must be something wrong with you’, and I think it sums it up perfectly.”
Mr Kenny said the weather held up for the crowd, and a highlight was the audience’s engagement.
“It is a competition, but it is also maintaining the heritage,” he said.
“The audience was sitting, watching, asking questions and our exhibitors were stopping to answer the questions.”
Mr Kenny and the organisation were thrilled with the public’s support of the event, and are excited to make it a regular calendar event.
