The mystery of who bought a $1m winning Lotto ticket at Nextra newsagent in Grand Central has been solved with a couple coming forward to claim the ticket.
The Darling Downs couple held one of the three division 1 winning entries nationally in Weekday Windfall draw 4555, drawn Wednesday, June 4.
However, they had not registered their entry with the Lott Members Club so it took two days to track them down.
It was only after a broad appeal in the media that they came forward.
“We were just chatting and realised we had a ticket in the draw, so we scanned it and found out,” the woman said.
“We thought it was going to be a split prize of something as we saw there were two other division 1 winners in the same draw. But then we looked into it and thought, ‘Holy s--t,” the man added.
“Hoorah, $1m.”
To add to the drama of the windfall, it was the first lottery ticket the woman bought.
“I was passing the newsagency and thought I’d get it,” she said.
“We’ll definitely be buying a house, our first house.”
Nextra Grand Central team member Jen Newman said she couldn’t believe her team had sold a division 1 winning entry worth $1m.
“Everyone at Nextra Grand Central is so excited to have sold a division one winning entry worth a life-changing $1m,” she said.
“We welcome so many wonderful people through our doors every day, and it truly could be anyone who’s taken home this incredible million-dollar prize.”
