Residents fuming after 4am burnouts disturb the peace

The screeching tyres and billowing smoke woke up the neighbour with residents suspecting the culprit lived nearby.

Hoon targets same street twice in two weeks

Residents of a quiet Darling Heights community are fuming after a hoon ripped up their street twice in two weeks, doing donuts and flooding their homes with the smell of burnt rubber.

CCTV captured at one home shows a dark-coloured black utility creep along Frew Street before proceeding to do several burnouts, about 4am on March 23.

The tyres’ screeching woke up several residents and produced large amounts of smoke in Suriname Court.

After they were done, the hoon drove to a new estate under construction in Guyana Court where they did more burnouts and left thick, black marks on the bitumen.

The Chronicle spoke to several residents who said they recognised the vehicle and suspected the driver lived nearby.

“I am just worried that they could lose control and crash into a house or a power pole,” one resident said.

Another resident who moved into the area about two months ago said he thought he was buying into a quiet area.

“I know young blokes are young blokes and we have all been there, I am a car enthusiast but I didn’t go doing burnout at all hours,” he said

“It is disappointing that you go to a nice, quiet area and you have to put up with this at 4am.

“I could still smell the burnt rubber the next morning.”

The matter has been reported to the Queensland Police Service.
