Firefighters entered a burning home on the outskirts of the Toowoomba region to control a blaze that had spread from a nearby rubbish pile.
The fire had taken hold inside a brick home on Jondaryan-Evanslea Road, near the intersection with Darr Road about 10.45am.
Queensland Fire and Emergency Services Station Controller Mark Haddow said three crews have entered the house in an attempt to control the flames.
“On arrival there was smoke issuing from the structure and at this stage it is unknown how it started,” he said.
The fire was threatening several external structures on the property that fire crews worked to protect.
SC Haddow said there were initial fears that someone may be inside the home.
“The owner occupier turned shortly thereafter, told us there was no one home at the time,” he said.
Three fire crews remain at the scene.
