Police are appealing for public assistance after they confirmed the vehicle that crashed into a tree and killed a 20-year-old woman was stolen.
Initial investigations indicate about 10pm on December 31, a stolen white Mitsubishi Triton was travelling west on Warwick-Killarney Road, when it left the road and hit a tree near the intersection of Donovan Road.
Danyelle Williams, 20, died at the scene.
Family members on Monday released a shared statement, where they said Danyelle had a “heart full of gold”.
Police confirmed on Tuesday the vehicle had been stolen from a home on Cullen Street in Warwick at 2am the previous day.
Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the circumstances leading up to the crash and is asking anyone who was in the area, or who was travelling between Warwick and Killarney around that time, to come forward.
Anyone who has vision of the vehicle with registration plates 578XGZ from that day, or who noticed its manner of driving in the hours leading up to the crash, is also asked to call police.
