This week has been fascinating, politically.
Our prime minister announced that Australian citizens would face a hefty fine and or a prison cell if they tried to come home from India.
Then the ‘thought bubble become law’ received a less than welcome response.
Then the prime minister back-pedalled at speed, trying desperately to save face.
This is ill conceived leadership on the run. Again a bit like the recent ad campaign about consent.
Queensland State Government and our local visionaries tried to build a special purpose quarantine facility here in Toowoomba, but were frustrated by the federal govt.
If Toowoomba had today, a facility like the successful one in the Northern Territory, things would look very different for those Aussies in India, desperate to get home.
Someone wise (Benjamin Franklin) once said, “if you fail to plan, you are planning to fail.”
