A Toowoomba magistrate said a 51-year-old man, made life hell for a Northpoint Shopping Center worker who was stalked and threatened for weeks.

Father-of-four Peter Anthony Turnbull fronted court on July 28 and pleaded guilty to public nuisance and stalking a Coles trolley collector.

The court heard months prior Turnbull was sentenced for stalking a hairdresser who also worked at the same shopping centre.

The court heard Turnbull would stare through a glass window at the woman several times a day, approached her in the carpark, and made sexual comments about her appearance.

Turnbull pleaded guilty to stalking the woman and was placed on a seven-month probation order – which he was on when he stalked the Coles worker.

Police prosecutor Kinsley Weir said the trolley boy routinely bumped into Turnbull while performing his duties, when Turnbull would call him a “snitch’, a “dog”, and threatened violence.

On one occasion Turnbull threatened to stab the man.

Turnbull appeared in court via video link from prison, as he was sentenced to a two-year jail term for exposing children to pornographic images as they shopped in a Toowoomba store.

Magistrate Louise Shephard issued a restraining order against Turnbull, banning him from going near the two stalking victims, and the Northpoint Shopping Centre for two years.

She told Turnbull it was unfortunate he declined mental health assessments because his behaviour was not normal, and it was clear from his criminal history that he needed help.

Ms Shephard sentenced Turnbull to a four-month jail term which will run alongside the sentence he is currently serving in jail.

Turnbull will be eligible for parole on September 25.
