Highfields, Middle Ridge and Toowoomba are the current development hot spots across the region, according to new data.

Development assessment statistics from the Toowoomba Regional Council’s planning department have revealed more than $389m in projects have gone through the region since the start of the financial year.

This figure was mainly driven by new dwellings ($195m), along with commercial projects ($92m) and new garages or carports ($41m).

The values are based on figures given to the council by private building certifications of development projects.
