A section of major highway in the Toowoomba region was shut off to traffic after a car and truck crashed, with the forensic crash unit now investigating the collision.
The New England Highway was closed in both directions near the intersection of Evans Rd after a truck and ute collided in the southbound lanes around 6.30am on Thursday morning.
The driver and only occupant of the car was a 17-year-old Meringandan high school boy.
He was in a stable condition, however he was entrapped and the driver’s side door had to be removed by members of the Queensland Fire Department.
The teenager, who was in his school uniform, was reportedly treated for multiple arm fractures and flown to the Princess Alexandra Hospital for further treatment.
The truck driver, a 39-year-old Crows Nest man, was not physically injured.
Diversions remained in place past Borneo Barracks and up Donovan Road until after 9am.
The Forensic Crash Unit is investigating the incident.
Anyone who witnessed the crash has been urged to contact police.
