A call has gone for desperately needed donations of clothes, good and nappies after at least five structures were destroyed by fire at Millmerran Downs.
Rochelle Hinks from the Millmerran Village Caravan Park said evacuees were pouring into her site and the nearby evacuation centre with nothing.
“All they have is the clothes they are wearing,” she said.
“We were told there was nine house destroyed last night and there was another evacuation happening on Wednesday afternoon.
“It sounds strange but we really need underwear, shoes, summer clothes for children, nappies and pillows and blankets to help their stay at the evacuation centre be more comfortable.”
Ms Hinks is also collecting donations of food and vouchers for people who have been rehomed temporarily in Millmerran.
“Later on we will collect household items, but just now we need clothes and food,” Ms Hinks said.
Meanwhile an appeal has been launched for Greg and Lorelle White and their family after their Millmerran Downs home was destroyed by a bushfire on Monday.
The Darling Downs family fled as fire took their property, razing their home to the ground, destroying their car and claiming the life of their pet dog.
Family friend Aron Bullo has opened a fundraising campaign for them.
“This devastating natural disaster has left them without their belongings, including their car, furniture, and more,” he said.
“Fortunately, the family is safe, but the emotional toll of losing their home is immense.
“They are currently waiting to see what their insurance can provide, and they hope it will help them secure a new place.”
In the meantime, your support can make a significant difference in helping them get back on
their feet and start rebuilding their lives.
