A Toowoomba lawyer and a local sporting identity have each been charged with a serious assault offence, with the matter mentioned before the city’s Magistrates Court.
Herman Paul Poleka Ene, 28, and Joel Dale Stower, 30, were not required to be in court on Tuesday when their respective matters were mentioned with each represented by Skuse Graham Lawyers principal Brad Skuse.
The pair are both facing one charge each of assault occasioning bodily harm in company.
Mr Skuse said a submission on behalf of his clients was to be sent to the prosecution but as the barrister briefed in the matter was away on leave at the moment that submission had yet to be forwarded.
He asked for an adjournment so that could be done.
None of the police allegations against the pair have as yet been aired in court and neither accused has yet been required to enter any plea to their respective charge.
Magistrate Clare Kelly remanded both men on bail and adjourned their respective cases to February 14 for mention back in the same court.
