Labor candidate vying for Trevor Watts’ safe LNP seat

The LNP’s safeguarded Toowoomba North electorate of more than a decade could see a Labor shake-up with the announcement of a new contender. Meet the Labor candidate for Toowoomba North here.

A jack of almost all trades has raised his hand to stand against the LNP’s more than decade long safe seat of Toowoomba North.

Queensland Labor Party announced this week Toowoomba born and raised James Green is taking their fight to the city’s north.

Mr Green is challenging the position of current Toowoomba North MP Trevor Watts who has held the seat since 2012.

A statement from the Queensland Labor Party said having working in trade, farming and education Mr Green understands the value of hard work and community values.

Health, education, cost of living and community safety are among Mr Green’s top priorities for the electorate.

“Along with the new Premier Steven Miles and the Labor team, we have clear vision

for this community and have already delivered major health infrastructure projects,” Mr Green said in a statement.

“I am ready to champion the issues that matter most to Toowoomba North not put

them all at risk under an LNP who only want to sack nurses, and health

professionals.”

Premier Steven Miles said the Toowoomba North electorate would have a real local champion in Mr Green if he were elected.

“James is a fantastic addition to my Labor team and together we will do what matters

for the people of Toowoomba North,” he said in a statement.

“We know how important strong local advocates are in the regions and in James you

have a real local champion.”

The Chronicle reached out to Labor for an interview with Mr Green but did not get a response before publication.
