A Toowoomba truck driver has put his livelihood at risk after being ordered off the road for two years after pleading guilty to driving while disqualified by court order.

However, on May 13 about 12.20am the 45-year-old had been pulled over by police while driving on Hermitage Rd, Cranley, to Toowoomba’s north, police prosecutor Leea Trewin told the court.

Garvey conceded his driver’s licence was disqualified and police checks confirmed that, Sergeant Trewin said.

The 45-year-old pleaded guilty to driving while disqualified.

His solicitor Brad Skuse, of Skuse Graham Lawyers, told the court his client had received a phone call from his girlfriend that she had opened a deep wound in her leg and he had gone to her place to help.

It was when he was returning a vehicle that he was pulled over, he said.

Mr Skuse provided a reference from his client’s employer who spoke highly of the truck driver.

Magistrate Clare Kelly fined Garvey $650 and disqualified him from holding or obtaining a driver’s licence for the mandatory minimum period of two years.
