A Toowoomba teenager accused of shooting a 16-year-old girl in the arm at a CBD hotel has had her matters mentioned before the city’s Magistrates Court.

Karleeah Marie Jensen, 18, has been held in custody since her arrest for the February 14 incident and was not required to be in court when her matters were mentioned on Wednesday.

Her solicitor Alysha Jacobsen, of Bouchier Khan Lawyers, told the court she had filed registry committal documents with the prosecution to take the major charges straight up to the higher court but two lesser charges remained before the Magistrates Court jurisdiction.

Magistrate Louise Shephard said it appeared all charges were still before the Magistrates Court.

A crime scene was established after a teenage girl was seriously injured near the Toowoomba CBD on Annand St on February 14, 2023.

Police prosecutor Sergeant Natalie Bugden formally withdrew one of those charges, that being a receiving tainted property matter.

Ms Jensen, a mother of one, has not as yet been called upon to enter any pleas to her charges which include dangerous conduct with a weapon, grievous bodily harm, unlawful possession of a weapon, unlawful possession of explosives, and unlawfully wounding of another person arising from the incident.

Police allege Ms Jensen discharged a shortened firearm in an Annand St hotel on February 14, with the projectiles striking a 16-year-old female associate of hers, seriously injuring her arm which required surgery.

The complainant girl’s mother also sustained minor injuries when pellets also struck her, police allege.

Ms Shephard remanded Ms Jensen in custody and adjourned her charges for mention back in Toowoomba Magistrates Court on August 2, by which time it was envisaged the matters would have gone by way of registry committal to the higher court.
