Friends and family of Jamie Barlow gathered at the weekend to bid farewell to the father about a month after he died tragically on the lawn outside his Laidley home.

Mr Barlow has been remembered as a kind and generous soul with a thirst for travel and adventure.

“Jamie spent the last five years of his life in Laidley with (his partner) Stacey and their beloved dogs, the cat and a snake,” his sister Karen Lyon said.

“He had many friends in and around Laidley and was well known for his happy, giving nature.

“He would gladly give you his last $5 or the shirt off his back if you needed it.

“We know that he often helped friends with money and food.

“He would never let any child go hungry or cold.”

Mr Barlow’s death came suddenly and is the subject of an murder investigation.

“We love you and will miss your cheeky smile, your pants tucked into your boots and that damn smelly akubra hat,” Ms Lyon said.

“You do not go alone, our hearts go with you.”

His funeral comes as homicide detectives confirmed they have charged an extra two men over the death of Mr Barlow.

The 48-year-old died about 9.30pm on June 20 after he was stabbed more than a dozen times.

Police initially charged five people with murder, arson and the attempted murder of Mr Barlow’s partner Stacey Renee Vale.

They include Gabriel Angelo Humberto Jones, 19, Laidley residents Charlotte Laura Barratt, 19, and Talia Healey, 19, and College View resident Braiden Taylor Leslie Harris, 24 and a 16-year-old boy.

In the days that followed, police arrested a 25-year-old Caboolture man and a 19-year-old Ningi man.

They have been charged with murdering Jamie Barlow, arson and the attempted murder of Ms Vale.

Both men have been held in custody and are due to face the Ipswich Magistrates Court on July 20.

Emergency Services were called to reports of a fire at Mr Barlow’s Patrick Street home in Laidley about 9pm on June 20.

Firefighters found Mr Barlow on the rear steps of the property with dozens of stab wounds.

It is alleged the accused cut the power to Mr Barlow’s home to lure him outside where they demanded cash and drugs.

Police allege that several of the accused stabbed Mr Barlow multiple times before setting his home on fire and confronting his partner Ms Vale. They fled but were arrested in the days that followed.

Jamie’s mum Debbie Barlow said she was still struggling with her son’s passing.

“I can’t get used to the way he died,” she said.

Mr Barlow leaves behind three daughters and a son.

“I still have trouble that I can’t go and see him,” Ms Barlow said.

“We live in Toogoolawah and I used to go two or three times a week to have a coffee with Jamie.

“This happened right before the holidays and three of his kids would have come up for the holidays.”

The Patrick street home is set to be demolished, leaving Ms Vale with nowhere to go.

It is understood she is staying with friends and faces a difficult journey to rebuild her life. Her friend Kel Gilmore has launched a GoFundMe campaign.

“Stacey needs all our support and love sent her way and my family are doing all we can to be there for her,” she said.

“At the end of the day Jamie is gone, but Stacey is still trying to cope day by day, and she needs our help, she needs a place to call home to buy everything after losing it all that night.

“Stacey is an amazing lady with a good heart and even though she is living this nightmare she still tries to smile.”
