It’s a Bloke Thing Luncheon open up to more attendees for 15th fundraiser

After selling out year after year the annual It’s a Bloke Thing Luncheon will no longer be restricted to just 500 attendees, so this year no one is going to miss out.

In its 15th year Toowoomba’s Its a Bloke Thing Luncheon is going to be bigger than ever, and after selling out in last few years it will now be open to more visitors from anywhere across Australia with the introduction of Blue Virtual Seats.

The Toowoomba charity raised more than $1.3m at the 2024 luncheon, with proceeds going towards supporting men with prostate cancer and this year they are hoping to up the ante and raise $2m thanks to the addition of virtual seats.

It’s a Bloke Thing General Manager Mick Dwayne said they wanted to find a way for more people to get involved.

“We’re really proud of that but of course it means it has it’s limitations because we can only squeeze about 500 people into Wellcamp Airport for the luncheon,” he said.

“What we want to see is people coming together to help tackle prostate cancer.”

People buying a Blue Seat won’t miss out on the speaker panel, silent auction, or the surprise entertainment at the event.

Virtual seats give people the chance to join in no matter where they are.

“Our foundation exists primarily to help men and their families in regional Australia,” he said.

“Men in the regions unfortunately have a lack of services that make dealing with a prostate cancer diagnosis that much more difficult than men in major metropolitan areas.”

Mr Dwayne said he encourages Blue Seat ticket holders to grab a group of friends and organise their own lunches at home while they follow along.

Tickets for the event are $400 compared to $20 virtual seats, and the funds go towards Prostate Cancer research and patient support programs.

“We’re hoping that at just $20 that they will be able to help deliver a very significant impact, the benefits, you know, men and families facing prostate cancer,” Mr Dwayne said.

The Luncheon is on August 29 and virtual tickets to the event can be bought at www.blueseat.com.au/.
