The picturesque Lilyvale Flower Farm is a recent addition to the Darling Downs’ eclectic mix of growers.

Opening to the public for the first time back in February, co-owner Ainsley Smith said they have been overwhelmed by the response from the community.

Ms Smith said it was the peaceful nature of the Lilyvale area that saw them change sceneries just over 12-months ago.

“We wanted to share that with people so we thought growing flowers would give them a reason to come out here,” she said.

“Life is so busy and seeing people just take time to slow down, get outside and see the beauty of creation.

“People walk out with the biggest smile on their face and that’s what we want to see, that’s what it’s all about for us.”

The success of the sunflower field has encouraged Ms Smith and her family to begin producing a wider range of cut flowers.

“We’ve got dahlias, zinnias and cosmos, and all sorts of pretty summer flowers we hope to do a pick your own with as well,” she said.

While the rain may have dampened other events in the region, it’s left the flower farm to flourish with plenty of bright yellow flowers waiting to be picked.

The flower farm is located on Heiligs Rd, Lilyvale, less than half an hour from Toowoomba, and is open on Monday from 10am-6pm and Christmas Eve from 10am-4pm.
