Emergency services are responding to a quad bike crash at Maryvale that has inflicted a nasty head injury.

A Queensland Ambulance Service spokesman said paramedics were called to the Cunningham Highway about 8.40am on Thursday after a quad bike reportedly collided with another vehicle on the highway.

Paramedics are treating a male rider aged in his 60s for a serious head injury, but he is stable.

A rescue chopper was initially called to assist and has now been stood down.

The highway is closed in both directions.

Meanwhile police, fire and paramedic crews were called to a two-vehicle crash on the Warrego Highway at Cowley Vale.

Queensland Fire Department crews were required to force open the door on one of the vehicles after a woman was encapsulated.

Paramedics treated two women who suffered minor abdominal injuries, and a toddler.

Motorists are advised to avoid the area.
