From gaining more knowledge through hands-on practical learning workshops, stocking up on craft supplies or learning about the latest trends, there was something to inspire all creative types at this year’s Craft Alive.
Held over three days at The Goods Shed, the event was a chance for retailers and teachers from across the country to share their wares with Toowoomba craft lovers.
For nine-year old Abby Lowe and mum Ange Bonsey it was a chance to try something new by taking part in a needle felting workshop run by Brisbane based Di Conroy of Wild Wooly, where Abby said it was really fun to learn the process involved to make her felt galah.
“There are so many different things, so many different crafts and it’s just so lovely, lots of ideas, lots of buying things. It’s fantastic for all ages,” Ms Bonsey said.
The next time Craft Alive will be in Toowoomba will be August 2026.
Toowoomba Quilters Club display
The first display to greet visitors as they arrive to Craft Alive was the Toowoomba Quilters Club display of colourful community quilts that will be donated to needy charities. The display included a raffle in a queen bed quilt valued at $2500 made by Julie Darby that will be drawn October 8 raising funds for the Isolated Children’s Parents’ Association of Queensland.
Members are preparing for their next major exhibition to be held during the Carnival of Flowers from September 14 to 20.
