Busy night for paramedics with multiple crashes across Toowoomba
Friday evening’s storm was brief but heavy, dropping more than 30mm of rain in a few minutes.
Our emergency services personnel were kept busy with the wild weather on Friday evening after multiple calls for service.
According to the Bureau of Meteorology, about 28mm of rain fell across the city from about 6pm onwards, while the Toowoomba Airport recorded 41mm.
Highfields received 27mm, Helidon got 41mm, 38mm was recorded at Haldon and Gatton got 67mm.
More storms are forecast today with the BOM recording a 45 per cent chance of a storm before midday.
The heavier falls are expected into evening, with a 90 per cent chance of showers after 10pm
Last night a woman and a small child suffered minor injuries when their vehicle rolled near the intersection of Tor and North Street in Rockville about 7.15pm.
Both were transported to the Toowoomba Hospital in stable conditions.
In Newtown, a woman suffered minor chest and hip injuries while a male suffered minor chest and neck injuries in a three-vehicle crash at the intersection of Glenvale Road and Hampton Street at 6.30pm.
A woman suffered a minor chest injury and was hospitalised after a two-vehicle crash in East Toowoomba on James Street about 5.50pm.
To the west, at Bollon a male truckie, aged in his 40s, was flown to hospital with potentially life-threatening injuries after his vehicle rolled on the Balonne Highway.
