A 14-YEAR-OLD boy suffered serious chest injuries after he crashed an allegedly stolen car into a tree at the intersection of Summerholm Road and the Warrego Highway.

Police were called to the Hatton Vale incident about 2.30am yesterday, where they found the boy behind the wheel of a silver 2004 model Mazda 3.

A police spokesman said the vehicle was allegedly taken from a Gatton home earlier that morning.

It is understood the boy was the sole occupant of the vehicle when he lost control of it and rolled into a tree, causing extensive damage.

Police allege the boy broke into two Gatton homes between midnight and the crash.

He allegedly stole the Mazda 3 from the first and phones and wallets from the second.

Paramedics treated him before taking him to the Princess Alexandra Hospital, where he remained under police watch.
