A jukebox musical that poses an intriguing ‘what if’ scenario to one of the world’s most famed texts is the Empire Theatre’s major production for 2026.
The iconic theatre is now in the process of putting together the team that will bring award-winning hit & Juliet to life next year.
The musical, which features iconic ‘90s and 2000s tracks from famed Swedish hit-maker Max Martin, premiered on West End in 2019 and has since toured across Australia.
This musical, written by David West Read, is centred on the idea that Juliet does not take her life at the end of William Shakespeare’s Romeo & Juliet.
The tracks you can expect to hear on the Empire stage are from some of the world’s biggest pop stars, including Katy Perry, Britney Spears, Pink and Justin Timberlake.
The Empire Theatre is taking expressions of interest for the musical’s creative team.
Roles up for grabs include & Juliet’s director, choreographer, music director and scenic designer.
Auditions are expected to be held later this year.
