Toowoomba, Roma dad Kyall Fisher fronts court for abusing parking inspector

A Toowoomba business owner who took his bad morning out on a parking inspector has copped another fine, this time in court.

Kyall Mervyn Fisher fronted Toowoomba Court for abusing a parking inspector who booked him while he was repairing a client's car's windscreen.

A court heard a usually upstanding member of the Toowoomba and Roma community abused a parking inspector who gave him a ticket.

The windscreen repairer, Kyall Mervyn Fisher, fronted Toowoomba Magistrates Court on Tuesday, March 3, and pleaded guilty to public nuisance.

Fisher, who had no criminal history, was originally charged with common assault however it was downgraded after successful case conferencing between his lawyer and police prosecution.

The court heard the father of seven was having a bad day before he kicked off at the inspector for giving him a ticket while he was repairing a client’s windscreen in the CBD about 12.30pm on November 13.

Police prosecutor Chris Wilson said the parking inspector’s body-worn camera footage showed Fisher running up to the man before attempting to shove a ticket down the man’s shirt while saying, “take that c***”.

The senior constable said the inspector warned Fisher he would call the police, however he continued to act aggressively while gesturing with a box-cutter, with no blade.

“It’s maintained (Fisher) had that in the process of his employment in the street and it was in his possession by coincidence,” he said.

Snr Const Wilson said the nature of the incident was serious and there were a number of different ways Fisher could have responded, one of which wasn’t “essentially assaulting a parking inspector” trying to do his job.

The court heard on the morning of the incident the Roma born man’s young son was sick, an older child was expelled from school, his mother injured her back, and he was late to work – which was the job he was on when he received the parking fine.

Fisher was fined $1200 and no conviction was recorded.
