Toowoomba El Attar restaurant owner, Ramadan Mohamed Hamed El Attar, fronts court for alleged violence
Police have charged a Toowoomba business owner with nine crimes, including an alleged violent attack at a mosque.

Toowoomba police have charged a popular restaurant owner with a number of offences, after the international chef allegedly beat two men, and threatened to kill a third.
Police allege Ramadan Mohamed Hamed ah El Attar committed the offences between April and November 2022.
On Thursday, February 23, Toowoomba Magistrates Court was told the owner of Toowoomba restaurant, El Attar Middle Eastern Grill, planned to contest the charges.
The court was told one of the alleged assault victims had withdrawn their police complaint, however police prosecutor Anita Page said she and her colleagues had no record of the complaint ever being withdrawn.
Police allege Mr El Attar assaulted two men, one in April and the other in June – one of which occurred at a Toowoomba mosque.
Two months later, police allege Mr El Attar was involved in a serious incident at Cash Converters Toowoomba and a Wilsonton business, where he unlawfully entered a man’s car, deprived him of his liberty, and threatened to kill him and his family.
Mr El Attar is also alleged to have sent death threats to the man.
Four days after the alleged incident, Mr El Attar allegedly created a disturbance at a Kearneys Spring home.
The court was told Mr El Attar’s legal team requested CCTV footage of the alleged mosque assault, and CCTV footage from the Cash Converters incident.
Magistrate Louise Shepherd released Mr El Attar on bail.
He will not be required to attend court when his matter is next mentioned on March 30.
As of Thursday, February 23, Mr El Attar has not entered pleas to his charges, which include two acts of common assault, deprivation of liberty, two charges of threatening violence, unlawful entry of a car to commit an indictable offence, and using his phone to make death threats.
