Three taken to hospital after horror start to weekend

A man has been flown to hospital with significant injuries and two others transported for treatment after overturning their car and becoming trapped inside near Cairns.
A car filled with three men in their 20s flipped just after 5am this morning between Fishery Falls and Deeral.
A spokesman for the Queensland Ambulance Service confirmed one man was airlifted to Cairns Hospital after sustaining significant leg injuries while the remaining two men transported via ambulance without apparent injuries.
A team of six fire crews were called to help free the 23 year old trapped inside with the technical rescue taking more than hour.
A spokesman for the Queensland Fire Department said teams were needed to help stabilise the vehicle before they could free those stuck inside.
“Our crews assisted with stabilising the vehicle and freed one occupant entrapped,” she said.
“He was left in the hands of QAS at 6.30am after crews deployed hydraulic equipment to stabilise the overturned vehicle.”
Flight data showed the rescue helicopter returned to Cairns Hospital around 7.15am.
A spokeswoman for the Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service said the young man was currently in a stable condition.
