The Snitch: Isabelle Thomasset charged with assaulting ‘Playboy rapist’ Simon Monteiro

How did a woman get charged with assaulting a notorious rapist? Which lawyer has been banned for abusive language? And who’s the once feared bikie who’s been banned from the casino? The Snitch is here.

The news that notorious “Playboy rapist” Simon Monteiro has allegedly been assaulted by a woman would normally be celebrated.

But there are a few more competing questions arising from the latest legal trouble involving the convicted sex offender.

Monteiro, a former model and socialite – who changed his name from Simon Lowe – served 12 years for the horrific and violent rape of his ex-girlfriend in 2009 and has been described in court as a violent, lying psychopath.

Since being released, he has repeatedly been charged with breaching his monitoring orders, including when an AVO was taken out against him to protect a woman with whom he became romantically linked and secretly took to his isolated Central Coast home.

But the 58-year-old’s latest court appearance will see him play the role of the alleged victim.

Isabelle Thomasset has been charged with assaulting Monteiro and damaging property at his Somersby home.

Ms Thomasset faced Gosford Local Court on Wednesday, where police have also taken an AVO against her to protect Monteiro.

Snitch has been told Ms Thomasset and Monteiro became romantically linked earlier this year.

Police were called on July 10 after the pair had a disagreement over whether she should leave the property.

Thomasset allegedly called triple-0 but was charged when Moneteiro alleged that she assaulted him and damaged a door.

Unclear is whether Monteiro had declared the relationship, and that Ms Thomasset was staying over as stipulated, by the conditions imposed on him by the NSW Supreme Court.

Also unclear is whether Monteiro will be charged over Ms Thomasset’s allegation that he illegally detained her.

The case returns to Gosford Local Court on September 3.

RYMER’S REASON

Former senior Rebels bikie Chris Rymer is listed to face court next month charged with entering a casino despite being an excluded person.

Rymer, the one time feared bikie who underwent a lifestyle makeover in recent years by leaving the gang and getting his face tattoos removed, is scheduled to face the Downing Centre Local Court over allegations he went too close to Sydney’s Crown Casino.

The full details haven’t been aired but it appears to be an improvement on his previous dramas.

The last time we heard of Rymer was in July 2022 when he shot outside his home.

In 2021 he was shot at Riverstone while waiting in a taxi.

It was rumoured that Rymer had been shot in the penis, but the then bikie quelled speculation about the functionality of his manhood by producing an heir.

SIDERIS BANNED

Have you ever given someone a spray so good that it ended your career?

George Sideris has. And he’s not allowed to work as a lawyer anymore.

The NSW Court of Appeal removed Sideris’ name from the roll of Australian lawyers last week after ruling he was “not a fit and proper person”.

The demise of Sideris, who has been a lawyer for 37 years, began when he lost his patience with a lawyer acting for the Salvation Army.

Sideris then doubled down against the lawyers working for the NSW legal professional body who launched an investigation after the Salvation Army’s lawyer lodged an official complaint.

The court heard Sideris’ let loose against the lawyer acting for Salvation Army when the charity pursued his elderly mother-in-law over a “refundable accommodation deposit”.

The court heard Sideris wrote a lengthy email to the Salvo’s lawyer, which included the observation: “Basically i am sick of your shit and all the emails … So for a f--king lousy $100,000 … you want to screw an old lady over.”

The NSW Law Society launched a professional misconduct case in the NSW Civil and Administrative Tribunal after a complaint.

The court heard Sideris’ correspondence with the Law Society’s lawyers was equally “discourteous” and provided 400 pages of it as proof.

In one email, the Tribunal heard that Sideris wrote, “F--K off the lot of you you bunch of idiots” and “Let me be a littler nicer – F--K OFF”.

Another email stated “Better still” or “So simply put” above an attached picture of a middle finger.

A three-judge panel, which included Chief Justice Andrew Bell, ruled that Sideris had “made the case for his lack of current and continuing fitness to practice out of his own mouth.”

“It is not just that the language is consistently coarse but it also discloses a complete absence of respect for individuals, institutions and the Tribunal,” the judges said.

What a way to go out.
