A Toowoomba teen who police allege was selling and trafficking methamphetamine was found harbouring a wanted man in the boot of her car.

The 18-year-old girl, Zarcody Jane Sims, pleaded guilty to four charges, however she has more serious charges still before the court following a raid in early 2024.

Lawyer Nathan Bouchier will be representing Sims on the drug-related charges which included the alleged trafficking and supply of meth alongside her grandmother 71-year-old Gloria Marie Sims.

At the Toowoomba Magistrates Court on March 28, Sims pleaded guilty to possessing drugs and ammunition, failing to ensure her passenger was wearing a seatbelt, and receiving suspected stolen property.

The court heard at 6am on January 22, police declared a car a crime scene following a robbery, which contained a handbag belonging to Sims.

Inside the handbag, officers found a sandwich bag with two boxes of the opioid drug suboxone, a number of smaller bags, scales, and $584 cash.

Police prosecutor Natalie Bugden said Sims was located in the car and arrested in relation to other matters.

The following month, Ms Bugden said Sims was pulled over just before midnight on Wood Street at Middle Ridge.

While searching the vehicle, she said officers were “surprised” to find a wanted man hiding in the boot.

Initially, Sims said she didn’t know the man or why he was hiding in her car.

Ms Bugden said Sims was on a court bail order at the time, which included a condition to allow police to access her phone, however when officers asked to see it, Sims said she didn’t have one.

Soon after her phone was found hidden under the passenger seat.

Officers also found suspected stolen property inside the car, a Guess watch, and collectable coins, however Sims said she didn’t know where the items came from.

Officers then found more coins inside Sims’ wallet, alongside ammunition.

The court heard the St Ursula’s College graduate had no criminal history and was unemployed, but she had worked at an IGA store.

Sims was fined $600 and no conviction was recorded.
