Teddy the cat rescued by Nerang firefighter goes viral
A Gold Coast firefighter has gone viral after rescuing a cat stuck in a scary predicament.
A Nerang firefighter is being praised for his heroic efforts after rescuing a cat which was stuck behind a hot-water system.
Firefighter Luke Parfumi and his crew were called to the home about 7pm on October 28.
Teddy the cat was wedged tightly between the wall and the hot-water system and couldn’t get himself out.
His owner wasn’t having much luck saving him so called for help.
The team used a broom handle to help Teddy wriggle free before Mr Parfumi was able to pull him out by his collar.
Queensland Fire Department shared the rescue to their social page, which went viral.
“According to his owner, Teddy has a habit of making what you might call interesting life choices,” the post read.
“While well and truly stuck, and not overly impressed about being rescued, a bit of gentle coaxing combined with some clever teamwork and a lot of patience resulted in the crew safely handing him back to his very relieved owner.”
The post received more than 1600 likes and almost 500 comments overnight and even got locals a little bit fired up.
“Just when I was thinking that fireman in the calendars weren’t real,” one person wrote.
“I think my cat is wedged behind something too,” another said.
“Does anyone have a cat I could borrow,” a third commented.
