Once inside, Ms Page said CCTV cameras were activated before midnight, and showed two men inside the premises wearing balaclavas.

She said police were notified, and officers intercepted the men who were attempting to leave the property in a car before midnight.

Ms Page said police found a council laptop, tools, an angle grinder, and balaclavas in the car.

She said at first, Ware refused to answer the officer’s questions and he was wearing the same clothing as seen in the CCTV footage.

The court was told the 38-year-old diesel fitter was proud of his ability to sustain work despite his meth addiction, and the crime was instigated by a drug relapse and run-in with an old associate.

The dad was sentenced to a four month jail term which was suspended for eight months.
