A young Warrane man has entered a guilty plea in relation to the 2023 death of a 10-month-old baby.

Daniel John Ridgers, 25, appeared before Acting Justice David Porter in the Supreme Court of Tasmania on Monday.

He pleaded guilty to one count of manslaughter over the death of baby Khaylan Shane Butler on November 30, 2023.

Mr Ridgers is alleged to have harmed the baby by “violently shaking him and throwing him into his cot”.

However, prosecution amended the charge prior to Mr Ridgers pleading, changing the wording from ‘throwing’ to ‘dropping into his cot’.

Mr Ridgers will reappear in court on December 11 at 10am
