Tasracing has endorsed the issuing of notices to ban four racing industry participants adversely named in the Murrihy Report on Friday.

Tasracing chief executive Andrew Jenkins said the Warning Off Notices were issued this morning and would take effect immediately.

“Warning Off Notices cannot be open ended in terms of time,” he said.

“An initial period of 45 days has been imposed pending the conclusion of investigations by an independent panel of harness racing and integrity experts to consider issues raised in the Murrihy report.”

The Murrihy Report found that Ben Yole had failed to care for an identified horse, and along with Tim Yole, mistreated other horses.

Regarding allegations of team driving and race fixing, Ben Yole, Nathan Ford and Mitchell Ford were found to have acted together to “improperly advantage horses and disadvantage others in harness races”.

Formal Show Cause Notices to those racing industry participants were issued on Friday, April 12.

The participants had until Thursday, April 18 to provide submissions as to why subsequent Warning Off Notices should not be proceeded.

Mr Jenkins said the Tasracing Board met on Friday to formally review the submissions provided by relevant participants and confirmed they determined to endorse issuing of the Warning Off Notices.
