Investigations into the escape of two teenage boys from Ashley Youth Detention Centre for a couple of hours on Thursday evening will resume this morning.
Tasmania Police said they were called to a disturbance at the facility about 5.45pm.
Officers said they were informed the pair left the premises about 6pm.
The teens returned to the centre about 8pm, police say, and negotiations were underway to resolve the incident.
About 10.30pm, police confirmed the incident had been safely resolved and further investigations were ongoing.
Police said no one was injured and there was no risk to the public.
