Mother’s Day wouldn’t be the same without the early morning flurry of pink as hundreds come together to walk or run the Mother’s Day Classic.
The run held in the heart of Hobart, along with hundreds of other locations Australia wide, raises funds for breast cancer research and ovarian cancer research.
But it’s more than a fundraiser for many.

Sisters Becky and Kris Lockley live on almost opposite sides of Tasmania but were able to get dressed up on Sunday and do the Mother’s Day Classic together in Bellerive.
‘It was a great morning,” Becky said.
“It was just so inspiring to see so many people out having a good time and supporting family and friends.”
The sisters said they have friends and family impacted by cancer.
“Cancer is something that touches every single person,” Kris said.
“It’s a really good opportunity to get out there and support a really good cause.”
Becky said the atmosphere at the fun run was also what made the event so unique.
“I just love how much everybody gets into the spirit of it,” she said.
Becky and Kris are both mums, which was another reason the day was special.
“For us it’s an opportunity to show a united front and have a bit of fun,” Kris said.
The pair decided to dress “matchy, matchy” in pink tutus along with their black leggings.
“We had hot pink scrunchies in the hair, with matching nails,” Becky said.
The sisters said they supported each other through the run.
“I live in the North-West and Kris is based in Hobart, so whenever we get a chance to come down together, we usually do some sort of run together,” Becky said.
Now the ladies will spend Mother’s Day resting their feet and having lunch with their mum.
