Crown Princess Mary’s personal history and importance to the Danish Royal Family will be illustrated through pictures, portraits and personal objects at a new exhibition at Frederiksborg Castle.

TASMANIAN Mary Donaldson captured the hearts of a two nations when her fairytale romance with Frederik, Crown Prince of Denmark, blossomed to marriage and motherhood.
Australians loved the story of the former Hobart property agent who met her prince charming in a Sydney bar during the 2000 Olympics, and the Danish people simply couldn’t get enough of the peoples’ princess as she made her new life with Prince Frederik and the royal family.
Now, the Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Castle is presenting a special exhibition that tells the personal story of Crown Princess Mary as she nears her 50th
birthday.
Upon the opening of the exhibition, a new portrait of the Crown Princess will be presented.
The exhibition, H.R.H. Crown Princess Mary 1972 – 2022, features princesses who have come to Denmark from abroad and Danish princesses who have become crown princesses abroad.
“What the Crown Princesses in the exhibition have in common is that they played a role in shaping their own eras, both socially and culturally,” the museum said in a statement.
“Crown Princess Mary’s personal history and importance to the Danish Royal Family and the Danish Commonwealth are illustrated through pictures, portraits and personal objects, as well as a selection of outfits worn by the Crown Princess for various duties, journeys and celebrations.
“The exhibition provides an insight into H.R.H. Crown Princess Mary’s commitment to her own patronages and her extensive work on the Danish and international stage.”
A new portrait of the Crown Princess will be presented at the exhibition opening.
By the end of the exhibition period, the portrait will become part of the Danish National Portrait Gallery, at the Museum of National History at Frederiksborg Castle.
The exhibition will be presented in the Great Hall of Frederiksborg Castle. from February 4 to August 31.
