Brother of accused Baden Hall arsonist among those giving evidence in trial

The man accused of setting fire to the century-old historic Baden Hall in the Southern Midlands will face a jury as his trial begins on Wednesday.
Rodney Jeffrey Bailey, 43, pleaded not guilty to one count of arson the day before his trial would take place, with Acting Justice David Porter overseeing the panelling of jury members for the trial on Tuesday.
Police alleged that on June 28, 2023, Mr Bailey set fire to Baden Hall on Tunnack Road in Baden, 20km southeast of Oatlands.
The property was owned by Peter Harold Collins, who the prosecution noted will appear to give evidence in the trial.
The court heard Mr Bailey’s brother Kenneth Bailey will also give evidence during the trial, as well as his acquaintance Rebecca Green and a number of the police officers involved in the investigation.
The prosecution stated that body-worn camera footage and footage from the police interview with Mr Bailey would become the main body of evidence in their case.
The trial is expected to take two days.
