A group of university students have shed their inhibitions and stripped off to put the spotlight on rural and remote communities who have been affected by drought, bushfires and COVID-19.
The Sydney University veterinary science students got their gear off for a cheeky calendar, which has now become an annual tradition.
Both male and female students bared all with strategically-placed horses, hats and lambs to raise funds for Aussie Helpers.
A number of locations were used for the shoot, including a local dairy farm owned by the Biffin family, as well as another private farm in the Camden area.
Third year representative Clemence King said it was the most challenging photo shoot as they were required to adhere to the COVID-19 guidelines and keep socially distant.
“It raises awareness for charity in a good way and it happens every year,” she said.
“It was a fun thing to do and everyone really enjoyed it.”
Fellow student Lucy Wilson said the daring 2021 calendar - which has raised almost $100,000 for a range of charities in previous years including drought-stricken farmers — brought about the expected nerves on the day of the shoot.
“It was a great experience on the day, we were luck enough to have Meredith Schofield as our photographer and by the end of the day we were almost too comfortable taking off our robes to get the shots,” Ms Wilson said.
“There were a few nervous laughs to start with but luckily we‘re a pretty close cohort - even more so now. It's been a tough year so we really wanted to give something back to the farmers and communities hit by the fires last summer who may not have had a chance to recover with all the developments of 2020.
“Aussie helpers is a cause close to all of our hearts and we are stoked to be able to give back anyway we can, and hopefully get a few laughs from the buyers of our calendar.”
Student Brett Fong added: “I was pretty nervous going in to the shoot as I’ve never done anything like that before. At first I was pretty shy, trying to stay as covered up as possible until we were ready to shoot.
“The photographer was amazing and made sure everyone was comfortable, and turned it into a safe and fun day. After the first shoot, all the nerves were gone and everyone seemed pretty comfortable for the rest of the time.
“It was a fun day spent with a great group of people for a good cause, and we’re definitely a lot closer after all of it.”
The calendar is priced at $25 and pre-sales are available at https://www.bumsforthebush.com/
