Channel 9 has axed The NRL Footy Show

The man who bombarded Erin Molan with vile Facebook messages did not show up in court last year to face the consequences of his behaviour.

Instead an arrest warrant was issued for David De La Blanca and he appeared at Mount Druitt Local Court the next day on May 9, 2018, but only after he was taken into custody, court records show.

Once the he was finally in the dock, Magistrate Brian Van Zuylen threw the book at him.

De La Blanca, from Ropes Crossing, was facing one charge of using a carriage service to menace harass or offend and another of failing to appear in court.

For the first charge, Mr Van Zuylen sentenced him to an eight-month suspended jail term on the condition he posted a $1000 bond.

This meant he was not sent to jail, but would be locked up for eight months if he committed any offence in that period. He also has an entry on his criminal record.

For failing to appear in court, De La Blanca got a $1000 fine.

The magistrate also imposed a two year apprehended violence order on De La Blanca.

The AVO banned De La Blanca from contacting Molan on social media, going within 100m of Molan’s home, Channel 9 studios or any NRL televised event where she was appearing.

According to police records, De La Blanca sent 14 messages to Molan’s Footy Show Facebook profile between April 1 and April 15, 2018.

The messages began with criticism about her performance on the Footy Show but soon descended into deeply offensive territory by making comments about her physical appearance and her impending pregnancy, police records said.

The AVO expires in May 2020.

De La Blanca could not be reached for comment.
