A stolen ute has been ditched and torched in Gulliver, after two cars were stolen from a Townsville residence, the other used to ram a police car.

The owner of the two vehicles Chris Franzmann said a Toyota HiLux and a Toyota Prado were stolen from his Currajong residence early Wednesday morning.

Queensland Police advised they were called after the stolen HiLux ute was found “well alight” along Grosvenor Street, behind Gill Park just after 11am.

Police advised they are investigating after the stolen Prado was used to intentionally ram a marked police vehicle from behind at 1:30am at the intersection of Gorden Street and Peel Street in Garbutt.

Two police officers were in the vehicle at the time and were not injured. The police vehicle sustained minor damage.

The stolen Prado left the scene with two other stolen vehicles, a Toyota Hilux, and Havel Q.

The HiLux was set alight before emergency services were called on Wednesday morning, while police confirmed they are still looking for the Prado and Havel Q.

Mr Franzmann said he saw a photo posted to Facebook of the car on fire and rushed to the scene.

“They stole both my cars, one’s still on the run,” the owner said.

Working as an electrician, he said he was “upset” to see his car destroyed.

“It’s my whole livelihood in the back of that car and its gone.”
