A top south-east Queensland restaurateur, who owns ritzy steakhouses and a seafood venue will face Southport District Court on cocaine possession and supply charges.
Broadbeach Waters man Steven Adams, 51, who with wife Autumn co-owns Moo Moo The Wine Bar + Grill steakhouses at Broadbeach and Brisbane plus Broadbeach’s Blowfish Ocean Grill + Bar, also at Broadbeach is facing four charges, two each of possessing and supplying cocaine.
Mr Adams’ charges were committed to the higher court on February 28 via a registry committal, a procedural process that occurs outside the courtroom.
The Director of Public Prosecutions will now prepare an indictment to present in the District Court, which they have up to six months to do.
Mr Adams is yet to enter a plea to the four charges.
Mr Adams and his wife were two of eight people charged as part of a large-scale police operation last year that was investigating allegations of a cocaine trafficking ring, with raids occurring at Broadbeach, Surfers Paradise, and Burleigh Heads in late July last year.
Mrs Adams was charged with nine counts of possessing cocaine she had purchased on various dates between June 28–July 30, 2024, from one of the targets of the police operation.
Mrs Adams pleaded guilty to the charges in the Southport Magistrates Court on January 21 this year, and was sentenced to a fine of $1500 and a 12-month, $2500 good behaviour bond, with no convictions recorded.
The court previously heard that at the time of her offending she was suffering from a “fairly heavy drug addiction”.
In an exclusive interview after her matter was finalised, she described being charged as the “wake-up call I needed”.
“This has been a very stressful year for our family due to many personal reasons, but I’ve always believed everything happens for a reason and the police intervention has been a blessing in disguise,” she said.
