US pop megastar Katy Perry has shocked fans by jetting into South Australia for a pre-tour visit – a week before she hits the stage in Adelaide.
The Firework singer, wearing a hat and dark sunglasses, was spotted by Channel 7 getting off a private jet at Kangaroo Island’s Kingscote airport at about 3.30pm.
It’s understood Perry and her four-year-old daughter Daisy will spend the next couple of days holidaying on the island at the award-winning Southern Ocean Lodge, the five-star resort located on a cliff in Hanson Bay overlooking the Southern Ocean.
One night at the luxurious accommodation is priced at about $3400.
A SA Tourism Commission spokesman confirmed that they had “no involvement” in Perry’s visit.
A state government spokesman also said they were unaware of her early arrival in Adelaide.
Perry’s weekend getaway has come as a surprise with the US singer not scheduled to perform in Adelaide until next Thursday.
Perry recently played two gigs in Brisbane, with two more set for Sunday and Monday night in Perth.
She will then perform four shows at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre on Thursday, Friday, Sunday and Monday nights as part of her 15-date Australian tour.
Perry’s Adelaide shows were made possible after Premier Peter Malinauskas wooed the singer on AFL Grand Final day.
The deal was done in a grandstand meeting room at the MCG on Saturday after Perry stunned at the pre-game show, with promoter Paul Dainty saying he had never seen anything like it in all his years in the entertainment business.
The state government has not paid Perry directly to play in Adelaide, however a deal has been struck to reduce the fees associated with using the Adelaide Entertainment Centre for the concert.
