A patrol car clipped a member of the public during a northern suburbs pursuit which saw a speeding driver allegedly crash through locked gates and on the wrong side of the road.

Police attempted to stop a white Mercedes van allegedly speeding on Cardigan St at Angle Park about 6pm Wednesday but it continued.

A few minutes later the van was spotted heading north on Churchill Rd, following it on to Port Wakefield Rd, before the van allegedly drove on to a dead-end street on Newcastle Crescent.

In an effort to escape police, the man allegedly drove into a paddock and through locked gates causing substantial front end damage to the van, before continuing on the wrong side of the road along Port Wakefield Rd and the Salisbury Highway.

Police continued to pursue the vehicle along Shepherdson and Martins Rds before the driver eventually abandoned the damaged van in the garden bed of a service station on Winzor St.

The driver ran off but was quickly arrested by police.

An Elizabeth North man, 49, was charged with failing to stop for police and driving in a dangerous manner, exceeding the speed limit, engaging in a pursuit, displaying false number plates and driving unlicensed.

He was refused bail and will appear in the Elizabeth Magistrates Court on Thursday.

During the incident, a patrol car hit a member of the public at the corner of Hollywood Boulevard and Winzor Street but no-one was injured.

Inquiries are continuing to see if the Mercedes was stolen.

It follows the arrest of two drivers after separate pursuits involving stolen cars in Adelaide, including one who allegedly drove at speeds in excess of 200km/h.

In the first incident a black Nissan skyline was spotted doing a burnout at the intersection of Stephen and Nottage Tce at Gilberton about midnight Wednesday.

A patrol car tried to pursue the driver but was unsuccessful.

The police helicopter tracked the car from Magill Rd through the north-eastern and northern suburbs.

Road spikes were put out at Elizabeth Grove about an hour later but were unsuccessful and the car was found dumped in the Hazel Rd Salisbury East.

The driver and passenger fled on foot but were arrested nearby.

The Nissan Skyline was reported stolen from Holden Hill on Monday.

The driver, an Elizabeth South man, 33, was charged with illegal use, misuse of a motor vehicle, driving disqualified, engaging in a police pursuit and aggravated extreme speed, after he allegedly travelled at speeds in excess of 200km/h on Port Wakefield Rd.

His passenger, a Surrey Downs man, 32, was also arrested and charged with illegal use, going equipped to commit an offence. He was also wanted for serious criminal trespass.

Hours later, patrols noticed a stolen black Ford Territory station wagon travelling along Sir Donald Bradman Drive at West Beach about 2.45am Wednesday.

The car was bearing two different number plates.

Multiple police cars pursued the car east on Grand Rd then south on Findon Rd before it was terminated.

The car was later seen driving eastbound on the wrong side of the road on Henley Beach Rd.

It was found on Chatswood Grove at Torrensville, and the driver had climbed on to the roof of a house in an effort to evade capture.

He jumped off the roof soon after and was arrested.

The man, 26, of no fixed address, was charged with driving dangerously to evade police, illegal use of a motor vehicle and being unlawfully on premises. He also had an active warrant issued by the parole board.

He was refused bail to appear in the Port Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday.
