From sparkling gowns and sharp tuxes to the candid moments that define a milestone night, SA students have made 2025 formal season one to remember.

Now, The Advertiser is calling for your help to celebrate the best of the bunch.

We’re on the hunt for SA’s best formal photo of 2025, and every photo tells a story.

Whether it’s a perfectly posed shot in your dream dress, a burst of laughter with friends, or a quiet moment that captures the night’s magic, we want to see it.

Nominations are now open, with entries closing ahead of the public vote on Wednesday, December 10 at 8am.

Readers will then get the chance to vote for their favourite photos, with voting closing Wednesday, December 17 at 8am.

Only subscribers can vote, and it’s one vote per person, so choose your favourite wisely.

Was SA’s best taken by one of our photographers?

The Advertiser’s photographers tagged along to a few formals this year and took a range of snaps, but will their handy work take out the prize?

The season kicked off in May at Mary MacKillop College, where students celebrated in style, and our cameras captured every classy moment.

In June, we headed into the city for Mitcham Girls High School’s city celebrations.

Things picked up pace in August at Investigator College’s stylish formal at Lost Phoenix Farm in Hindmarsh Valley — a stunning, sprawling property in the Fleurieu Peninsula, just an hour from the CBD or five minutes from Victor Harbor.

Salisbury East High School’s celebrations at the Playford Hotel were snapped in November.
